1. Project Introduction
ZKsync is a Layer 2 scaling solution designed to reduce transaction fees and increase transaction speed on Ethereum using zero-knowledge rollups (zk-rollups) and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP). In ZKsync Era, computation is performed off-chain and most data is stored off-chain as well. Transactions are bundled into batches before generating a validity proof. As all validity proofs are proven on Ethereum, users enjoy the same security warranties as in the L1.

It is developed by Matter Labs. Alex Gluchowski, co-founder & CEO, was previously co-founder & CTO of PaulCamper and Somuchmore GmbH.
Funding: In November 2022, Matter Labs closed a $200 million Series C funding co-led by Blockchain Capital and Dragonfly, with additional participation from a16z, Variant, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In November 2021, it raised $50 million in a Series B funding round led by a16z. In February 2021, it secured $6 million in a Series A round. In September 2019, it acquired $2 million in seed round funding.
