2. Team & Investment Info
Yuga Labs, the company behind APE, was co-founded by Greg Solano, an MFA graduate from the University of Virginia, and Wylie Aronow, a high-frequency crypto trader. Initially operating anonymously, their identities were revealed after the success of BAYC. Yuga Labs has launched multiple projects, including BAYC, MAYC, and BAKC, as well as the metaverse gaming projects Arcade and Otherside.
Funding: In February 2022, Yuga Labs raised $450 million in funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) with participation from Animoca Brands and others. The round valued Yuga Labs at $4 billion.
